From the Principal’s Desk…

The 2012 Presidential Election year is here! You may already be 
busy getting registered for the March 2012 primary election and 
promoting participation in our democratic process. Here are 
some key dates & deadlines:
 - Feb. 9th- First day to apply for a mail ballot
 - Feb. 21st- Voter registration ends
 - Feb. 27th- Early Voting begins
 - Mar. 15th- Early Voting ends; last day to apply for a 
mail ballot
 - Mar. 19th- Last day mail ballots can be postmarked
 - Mar. 20th- Election Day

As Black History Month approaches, please take time to reflect 
upon and celebrate the achievements of Black Americans. Lloyd 
Bond Campus will host their annual Black History Program 
on Wednesday, February 8th from 12-1:30 pm in our 
gymnasium. Parents please come out and see the 
outstanding assembly our students, teachers and staff are 
putting together. Take time out on your weekend travels to 
check out our historic Dusable Museum of African American 
History located at 740 E. 56th Place. For more information on

PTO CORNER - PTO's Purpose and Mission
Happy New Year parents. Words can not express our gratitude for all your support thus far. Please continue the momentum. In saying that, family, district and community involvement were instrumental in developing and designing Lloyd Bond School. A strong emphasis is placed on parents, (the child’s first and most important teacher) as partners and supporters in the education process. The PTO has a commitment to promote and provide assistance to provide support in the areas of educational support, fund raising, district representation, social events and encouraging parent involvement in the school. Meetings are held every 2nd Thursday of the month from 8:15 pm- 9:15 am in Ms. McDevitt’s office.

Update: (Correction) Lexia Reading and Lloyd Bond students 
Parents your child can practice Lexia Reading at home. Lexia Reading is available at http://www.lexialearning.com/support. Please read the Installation and Configuration guide prior to installation. Your home computer must meet specific requirements for a successful installation. Note: Customer Code 4446-5391-7447-8728 must be entered during installation. If you experience technical issues, please contact Lexia Reading Customer Support.

Box Tops for Education for Lloyd Bond Campus
Box Tops for Education have helped schools earn over $400 million since 1996. A special thanks to all the parents who have taken time out to clip box tops for our school and have been passionate about helping our school succeed and giving students more opportunities to learn. Starting Feb. 1st, our campus will host a Box Tops for Education contest whereas the classroom that submits the most Box Tops between Feb. 1st thru Jun. 1st will win a pizza party with all the trimmings. The pizza party will be held Wednesday, June 13th before students go on their summer break. Please submit your Box Tops to the main office, in a Ziploc bag with your student’s name and classroom teacher’s name included. Let the fun begin and winner will be announced in June.
